The story so far ...

Jane Buchanan
Originally from Leicester, Jane spent her early years training at the Pat Sussenbach School of Dance then went on to an internationally-renowned dance college in London, The Laban Centre for Movement and Dance, to study ballet, contemporary dance, teaching, drama and performance. On returning to Leicester with her children Jane felt that there should be dance classes available in the village, and so the Kirby Muxloe classes began. Soon after, classes were set up in Ratby.
It was not long before Jane's original concerns about the lack of dance opportunities in the area were proved correct. The classes grew as word spread. To give you an idea of how that word spread, the first 2-b Productions Annual Showcase took place on a Tuesday afternoon in 2000, in front of proud family and interested friends. The performers soon moved to the stage and in 2007, tickets for Fantastic Film were in such high demand that Jane had to put on three shows, one matinee and two evening.
2-b’s creativity is reflected in the variety of classes on offer. Ballet, modern, tap, street dance, acro, boys’ tap, adult tap/modern and singing are all regular features of the 2-b programme. Jane will always respond to popular demand (which is how some of these have come about) so watch this space for more new classes! One of the things that Jane has enjoyed most over the years is seeing the students develop in skill and confidence. Some of the original children are still with her and some of the older ones have left and come back. This certainly makes for job satisfaction!
Jane is surrounded by a wonderful team of teachers and helpers, not least of which is her mum Jill, or Mrs B as she is known. Mrs B mans the desk, deals with queries and orders dancewear. She also makes the tea and coffee! A very friendly face, she is a great asset to 2-b.
What about the future? With the new Mixit! Performance Projects, the arrival of Melody Bear and several requests for outdoor and charity performances, these are exciting times. Jane feels that with the continued support of teachers, helpers and parents, it will be onward and upwards for 2-b Productions!
