Mixit! performance projects

is 2-b's exciting new performing arts initiative. We see children performing in all sorts of ways, be it on stage, at school or in class, and decided it would be good to offer them a wider range of performing opportunities than is currently available in the area. The idea is to run project-based sessions during half-terms and holidays so that the kids can really get their teeth into something, i.e. a full-blown production! They'll get a chance to showcase all sorts of skills and talents - dancing, acting, singing, presenting, backstage skills, directing, producing. In fact, we have been so inspired by the children we've seen (not just within 2-b) that we think the list could go on and on!
Summer Schools run for one week and are designed to let the children see a project through from beginning to end. The climax will be a production for family and friends on the evening of the final day. The days will begin at 9am and run until 4pm (except for the performance day). These are intense weeks, with lots of fun and learning as well as hard work! There will be clear objectives for the week and these will be made clear to parents from the outset.
also runs in the Summer and Autumn half-term holidays. These are 2-day sessions in which we develop a script and learn lots about drama. There is no specific performance at the end, but there will be a chance to share what we have created with parents and friends.

you do whatever you feel good at or want to try - you can perform, design tickets and programmes, design the set, do the lights, even write some or all of the script. So - if you're really keen to see how a lighting board works, you'll get the chance to do so. If you're a bit shy about going on stage but feel like a challenge, we'll encourage you to see just how good you really are.
